Health Implications of Fracked Gas

The gas we use to heat our homes and cook is now largely obtained by hydraulic fracturing or "fracking," a newer, more dangerous method of natural gas extraction. Dr. Racine's presentation will focus on potentially harmful health effects resulting from the fracking technique itself and from associated processes, such as forest clearing, water pollution, gas release, compressors and pipelines.

A precautionary approach to fracking is needed to protect human health and our environment. We also need to keep and enforce methane pollution standards, a key step in fighting climate change, which are in danger of being rolled back under the current administration.
